rocking chair build process - back braces

Back braces ready for sanding

The flexible back braces are finished to perfection before they are installed into the custom wooden rocking chair. We've  trimmed the bottoms shape, rounded the edges to fit the holes previously plunge cut with the router. Next we cut the top to extend 1 1/8'' into the head rest. Then the top profile is cut on the band saw routed to round the edges. Then the entire back brace front to back are put through our sanding process 120, 150, 220, 320, 400, 500 and then burnished with a wool pad..... when there glowing you know your almost done. These pieces are one reason our custom rocking chair is so comfortable they flex to hug your entire back and offer great lumbar support.
