Customer Build: Maarten’s Solid Kingwood Stool

Maarten’s finished stool, built in the Netherlands using Canadian Woodworks templates.

Some builds start with a piece of wood that deserves something special. For Maarten Blokland in the Netherlands, that was his very last log of solid Kingwood—and he chose to turn it into a stool using our Canadian Woodworks templates.

Maarten sent Paul and the crew photos of his finished stool along with a short message:

“Made the stool using your templates and used my very last log of rare solid Kingwood for it. Turned out great.”

We’d have to agree. Dark grain lines sweep across the sculpted seat, standing out against the wood’s rich reddish tones. The rounded edges and slender legs give the stool a flowing shape, with plenty to appreciate from every angle.

The close-up shows the care in Maarten’s work, particularly where the leg meets the seat. The curved transition brings the parts together beautifully while letting the grain remain the centre of attention.
